An average of 4,700 port trucks per day will be forced to take detours, leading to terminal congestion and increased costs and time for container pickup and drop-off!
According to the latest plans from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the Vincent Thomas Bridge will be fully closed starting November 7, 2026 (local time) for a deck replacement project. The closure is expected to last approximately 16 months, with the bridge slated to reopen in early March 2028.
